Where YAT with Fleur De Lis Bumper Sticker
Where YAT Fleur Bumper Sticker from Zazzle.com
Yat is a unique dialect of English spoken in the Greater New Orleans Area. The term refers to those people who speak with the Yat accent and dialect of White New Orleanians. The name comes from the common use amongst said people of the greeting, "Where y'at?" (Where you at?), which is a way of asking, "How are you?" The Yat dialect has its influences from Louisiana French and Southern American English, particularly Older Southern American English. While the term Yat is usually reserved specifically for the strongest varieties of the New Orleans dialect, the term often refers specifically to speakers of Yat in some parts of the city and the inner suburbs of New Orleans, Louisiana.

How Many T-Shirts Do You Own?
As most all of you know not only do I do art, paint in acrylics, I do crazy t-shirts. I started out wanting a few shirts based on ideas I had in the '60's in college. Like my "Star Spangled Banana". I actually silked screen them on a screen I made. Later on my kids and I did shirts using those iron on decals with designs we came up with also based on food. (I wish I could find those 3 shirts now!) Then when I retired the creative juices had time to flow. Not only did I do art for cards, something else I silk screened in college, but the old t-shirt ideas came back and funny designs flowed.I am not sure how many designs I now have but it is a lot.
I have never really counted all the t-shirts I own but I can say I have several dresser draws full and a lot of old ones hidden in a box in the closet. I also have a lot I use as rags after they are too ragged to wear. I am not sure I can even get an accurate count. I think printed t-shirts are an American Cultural Icon. I believe I have seen a book written on the subject too. Which makes me wonder how many t-shirts do you own???

Plan a "Second Line" at your wedding
Plan a "Second Line" at your wedding- http://ht.ly/2Z20m
Today many "Wedding Second Lines" are pre planned with the couple having in hand a special umbrella printed with name and date and napkins preprinted also for the guests. Umbrellas can be found at this link on the web, Second Line Umbrellas, or if you are in New Orleans at Shushans in the French Quarter. Printed napkins can be found here on the web too. Just like "Gumbo", "Blacked Red Fish", and other New Orleans traditions a " Second Line" can be found most anywhere. Just plan it out with umbrellas and white napkins.

New Orleans Shotgun House
Shotgun Home, New Orleans on cards- http://ow.ly/1eSjH This too won an award- Today's Best March 06, 2010 from Zazzle. See http://www.zazzle.com/new_orleans_shot_gun_home_card-137710331678659490
From "Wikipedia" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shotgun_house, Origin of the name of this type of home, said to be from New Orleans but found all over in the South. "Shotgun houses consist of three to five rooms in a row with no hallways. The term "shotgun house", which was in use by 1903 but became more common after about 1940, is often said to come from the saying that one could fire a shotgun through the front door and the pellets would fly cleanly through the house and out the back door (since all the doors are on the same side of the house). Misssissippi Queen, Under The Hill in Natchez MS
Natchez is the oldest small town on the Mississippi river. Natchez was the first capital of the Mississippi Territory in 1798. Natchez Under The Hill was a boat landing established for the boats to unload and load. It was a rough spot with bars and boatmen for many years. In 1837 the merchants of the town of Natchez made an effort to clean up the area with the help of a storm finally the rough Under The Hill area tamed down. The Mississippi Queen was built in 1976 and has cruised along the mighty Mississippi river, it has been out of service but scheduled to begin trips again soon. The painting was done from a photo taken while the boat was docked Under the Hill taking on supplies.
The Mississippi Queen River Boat moored at Natchez, Ms under the Hill in 1998, painted by JK Schwehm, New orleans artist. This acrylic painting can be purchased on the web printed on paper or canvas. The original not for sale it also appears on note cards and a book cover. Prints are available at http://www.cafepress.com/figstreetstudio
